Hollywood Bowl

We are trying to do as much as we can while in L.A. and attending a concert at the Hollywood Bowl was something on our list.  So when I checked for upcoming concerts (back in early August) and saw Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers on the schedule for the very next day we jumped on the opportunity.

Depending on the concert, ticket holders can bring their own food and drinks and this concert allowed for it.  Steve got off work early and we began our journey around 5 p.m. since we wanted to get to the concert as early as possible to take it all in and we needed to pick up our dinner on our way.

Since I had read how terrible the Hollywood Bowl stacked parking was, we parked near the Grauman's Chinese Theater (which was a 15 minute walk).  We arrived at our seats around 7:30!  2 1/2 hours it took us to travel less than 18 miles and make our necessary stops which were not out of our way.  We were thankful that we allowed for so much "extra" travel time.

We sat in the Terrace Box section which had collapsable canvas seats for 4 and two folding tables.  We had the box to ourselves until after the concert began.  It turned out the other couple rode in one of the commuter buses that we had considered catching in Santa Monica- glad we didn't choose that mode of transportation.

It was such an enjoyable evening of good weather, food, music and atmosphere.  All of the bands were so entertaining!  And of course Steve Martin kept us laughing between songs- especially my Steve!

I'm not sure what I enjoyed more- being at the Hollywood Bowl or the concert.  We were so glad that we didn't miss this event- it was a highlight for us!
