Allison's Here!

Allison arrived late Thursday night and we've been on the go ever since!  We're having a great time, but it's flying by.  Here's some pictures highlighting her visit so far.

Walter's warm welcome to Allison
Allison always brings gifts : )

On Friday we explored the Venice Canals, Venice Beach, Santa Monica,  and Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice

A very late lunch at Huckleberry's in Santa Monica

On Saturday, the weather was rainy in L.A. and the forecast called for clear skies to the east.  So we drove to the Angeles National Forest, but evidently we didn't drive far enough.  It continued to rain and the visibility was horrible.  I found myself describing to Allison what she should be seeing all the way there!  We decided to return to the coast and to our surprise the skies had cleared.  Steve dropped us off in Santa Monica where we continued to explore Main Street and Third Street Promenade

On Sunday we drove north on the PCH after stopping at Whole Foods to purchase food for our picnic.  We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and had high hopes of a picnic at a dog friendly beach.  The wind was gusting 30 to 50 mph (and in some places up to 70 mph according to the news) and it was MISERABLE!  We lasted maybe 10 minutes before heading back to the car.  Even Walter's ears were blowing in the wind!  Back at the parking lot the wind wasn't as bad so we had our picnic there.

Santa Barbara was beautiful!  We parked at the coast and walked to the downtown area where the streets were lined with shops and restaurants.

On Monday, we went to the beach, walked to Whole Foods for Grilled Cheese Monday (Yum!), and sat out by the pool.  When Steve arrived home from work he took us to get this to help with our upcoming adventures!

More to come . . . !!!
